Saudi Arabia: Asian immigrant forced to clean mosques for 'skipping prayers' Riyadh, 18 Nov. (AKI) - A Saudi civil court has ordered an Asian immigrant to clean mosques next month during this year's Hajj pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca after religious police caught him skipping Friday prayers several times, Saudi daily al-Watan reports. The man will have to clean five mosques along the highway into Mecca twice daily for eleven days, the court ruled...
Earlier this month, a judge ordered a young man to memorise part of the Koran and 40 sayings of the Prophet Mohammed as a punishment for appearing in public with a woman who was not a relative.
..
The Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is an obligation for all able-bodied Muslims to attend at least once during their lives, provided they can afford it.

Textbook Terrorism: Islamofascism
Textbook Terrorism:
INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY

Islamofascism: A new study confirms our “ally” Saudi Arabia is still poisoning young Muslim minds with anti-Western textbooks. So? Its hate-filled graduates are enrolling at our colleges.
…despite promised reforms, the kingdom still teaches students to “hate the infidels.” The texts assert that it’s “permissible” for a Muslim to kill an “apostate,” an “adulterer,” a “homosexual,” as well as non-Muslims practicing “polytheism,” or Christianity. The violent ideology is introduced in a religion textbook in the first grade and reinforced and developed in following years of the public education system, culminating in the 12th grade…including to 19 academies founded by the Saudi ministry and chaired by local Saudi ambassadors in or near major foreign cities. Quotes from the latest textbooks Riyadh is propagating include:
• “The Jews and Christians are enemies of the believers.”
• “Only through force and victory over the enemies is there security and repose.
• ”The apes are Jews, the people of the Sabbath; while the swine are Christians, the infidels of the communion of Jesus.” The Saudi ministry has not removed these messages from its school texts…

Arab Racism - Rooted in Islamic Heritage
Arab Racism - Rooted in Islamic Heritage
A paler shade of black
Arabs like to imagine that their countries are comparatively free from racism. But it exists, nonetheless
The word 'abd - Arabic for "slave" - was often used in our household when I was a child. In fact, it was so common that I had no awareness of its negative connotations until well into my teenage years. My father's family, a proud northern Sudanese clan, used it to refer to anyone who had darker skin than themselves - from southern Sudanese house servants to migrants from Darfur- clear intent to demean.. addressing a particularly dark-skinned or thick-lipped child.
was a kind of racism that no one challenged, addressed,..through a child's eyes.. on a scale of colour, lighter was good, darker was bad. The word 'abd, although strictly meaning "slave" or "servant", became synonymous with negritude. my Islamic heritage reinforced this with quotes from Muhammad such as "You should listen to and obey your ruler even if he was an Ethiopian [ie black] slave whose head looks like a raisin" (Sahih Bukhari Volume 9, Book 89, Number 256).
When we moved to E. Africa.. 'abd was seamlessly transferred to the locals whom we interacted only in their capacity as domestic staff , grounds-keepers at international schools. While I myself was "black" of North African descent, my family believed its Arab roots were somehow genetically dominant, giving us smaller features and a marginally lighter skin tone - deeming ourselves to be an entirely a different race from "pure" Africans.
Our next move was to Saudi Arabia, where the Arab ethnicity with which I identified so strongly was suddenly cast into doubt: now it was my turn to be the "slave". My belief that I was an Arab, racially superior to non-Arab Africans, became laughable in the heartland of Arabia - a place where "Arabness" was not only determined by skin colour but by whether you could uninterruptedly trace your lineage back to the founding father of your clan. In fact, ancestry is so important in Saudi Arabia that courts have the power to annul a marriage if gaps are later discovered in a person's lineage oppening up the possiblity.. blood line pollution.

McCain: Will end dependence on foreign oil
(NECN: South Portland, Maine) - Senator John McCain attended a picnic at the Maine Military Museum in South Portland, Maine on Monday.
"Everybody here knows what has happened to a gallon of gas, our lowest income Americans are hurting the most, some of them can't even get to work," said the Republican presidential candidate.
"We are sending $700 billion a year to countries that don't like us very much and some of that money ends up in the hands of terrorist organizations. I will end this dependence on foreign oil," said McCain.

Exclusive: OPEC: A Recurring Nightmare
Family Security Matters, NJ - Jun 23, 2008
OPEC, acronym for The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, was founded in Baghdad on September 14th, 1960, ostensibly to bargain and negotiate the sale of oil to the West by Algeria, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela….
They sound just like another commercial fraternal organization, but with the exception of Venezuela and a bizarre on again/off again romance with Ecuador, all member states are Muslim and the bulk of the oil reserves, estimated to be more than three quarters of the entire world’s, are located in the Arab Middle East….
Saudi Arabia and OPEC cohorts don't just hold us over a barrel of oil. They fund and control radicalized Middle East departments in major Universities …

Arab racism must go! There will be no peace (in the ME) before Arabs view Jews as human beings
Arab racism must go
There will be no peace around here before Arabs view Jews as human beings
Jackie Levy Published: 12.03.07,
Despite all the ceremonial declarations uttered in Annapolis, my attention was drawn to a small story about the organizers tasked with planning the seating arrangements. As those were peace talks, and as all of us want peace, the organizers were warned about the need to ensure that no Syrian or Saudi official unintentionally encounters some Zionist pest.
This was indeed a large venue, but still, people (just like monkeys) sometimes have to go to the bathroom or wash their hands. In short, they may have to pass through a narrow corridor where, you never know, you may encounter one of those – well, here the speaker is supposed to venomously utter the word: “Zionist.”
Syria’s motives for attending the conference were quite clear. They came to score points and extricate themselves, as much as is possible, out of the axis of evil. In short, they came because of Syrian issues – all the rest didn’t quite interest them, and it was not easy for them as it is. But to bump into an Israeli?! A Jew! Face to face, with no Condoleezza or a sea of officials around. Just you and I. Now that’s way too much, being forced to exchange glances or even mumble something. This is where we draw the line.
After all, Arabs are honorable people, and the Israelis, on top of all the other trouble, have this bad habit of using such incidents in order to suddenly show friendliness, utter some kind of silly joke, and then tell everyone about it. Years after Annapolis, some Israeli minister or advisor could write in his memoirs how he made a quick comment to the Syrian official about the crappy American coffee, and yes, he thinks he saw a hint of a smile on the Syrian’s face – for a moment there, the Israeli will say, we were able to overcome the raging conflict and just be two men, Khaled and I, yearning for some good coffee.
The end of the story is that it was not easy at all to arrange the chairs. Sophisticated algorithms were utilized and multifaceted maneuvers previously only known in Astronomy were used, so that under no circumstances would an Arab and a Jew come in contact or some share kind of proximity that could hurt the feelings of the nation.
Our enemies are racist
Simply put, our enemies, among other things, are quite racist. As opposed to some stigmas, it turns out that arrogance is not an Israeli monopoly. It’s amazing how the Arab world managed to convince the West that the racist hatred is merely legitimate religious sensitivity that must be taken into consideration.
We should also take a moment to consider the fact that for us these things always sound like a silly joke. We treat it the same way we ridicule the Arab refusal to compete against Israeli athletes. None of us, with the exception of the margins of the far Right, have a problem meeting an Arab, shaking his hand, or showing sympathy for him.
The thing is, on their side it’s an absolutely serious matter. It’s hard to believe that anyone in the Arab media was joking about the seating arrangements.
For years we’ve been reprimanding ourselves over our attitude to Arabs and our racist jokes. Yet while we were busy reprimanding, we almost failed to notice that something changed around here. When was the last time you heard a derogatory term like “towel head” being used seriously, without any sarcasm? When was the last time an Israeli film featured an Arab character that was less than divine?
Meanwhile, the exact opposite is happening on the other side. And no, we’re not talking about a minor issue. Even if all the roadblocks will be removed, there will be no peace around here as long as Muslim Arabs don’t view Jews as human beings.

Saudis defend punishment for rape victim (Islam's Blaming the Victim)
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - The Saudi judiciary on Tuesday defended a court verdict
that sentenced a 19-year-old victim of a gang rape to six months in jail and 200
lashes because she was with an unrelated male when they were attacked.
The Shiite Muslim woman had initially been sentenced to 90 lashes
after being convicted of violating Saudi Arabia's rigid Islamic law requiring
segregation of the sexes.
But in considering her appeal of the verdict,
the Saudi General Court increased the punishment. It also roughly doubled prison
sentences for the seven men convicted of raping the woman, Saudi news media said
last week.
The reports triggered an international outcry over the Saudis
punishing the victim of a terrible crime.
But the Ministry of Justice
stood by the verdict Tuesday, saying that "charges were proven" against the
woman for having been in a car with a man who was not her relative.
The
ministry implied the victim's sentence was increased because she spoke out to
the press. "For whoever has an objection on verdicts issued, the system allows
an appeal without resorting to the media," said the statement, which was carried
on the official Saudi Press Agency.
The attack occurred in 2006. The
victim says she was in a car with a male student she used to know trying to
retrieve a picture of her. She says two men got into the car and drove them to a
secluded area where she was raped by seven men. Her friend also was assaulted.
Justice in Saudi Arabia is administered by a system of religious courts
according to the kingdom's strict interpretation of Islamic law.
Judges
have wide discretion in punishing criminals, rules of evidence are vague and
sometimes no defense lawyer is present. The result, critics say, are sentences
left to the whim of judges. A rapist, for instance, could receive anywhere from
a light sentence to death.
State Department spokesman Sean McCormack
avoided directly criticizing the Saudi judiciary over the case, but said the
verdict "causes a fair degree of surprise and astonishment."
"It is
within the power of the Saudi government to take a look at the verdict and
change it," McCormack said.
Canada's minister for women's issues, Jose
Verger, has called the sentence "barbaric."
The New York-based Human
Rights Watch said the verdict "not only sends victims of sexual violence the
message that they should not press charges, but in effect offers protection and
impunity to the perpetrators."

Britain's love affair with the Saudi kingdom - tale of Saudi's Islamic theocracy's Oppressive brutality

Britain's love affair with the Saudi kingdom
By Jemima Khan
Last Updated: 12:01am GMT 04/11/2007
King Abdullah arrived at Heathrow last Wednesday morning for the
first State Visit to the UK for 20 years – five planes, 13 family members, an
entourage of several hundred. No women.
I've been to Saudi Arabia a few
times. It's not much fun being a woman there. I suspect it's worse being a Saudi
woman. And worse still being her migrant maid.
It's a mad place and the
rules there have got nothing to do with Islam.
advertisementI've had my
feet beaten, not once but twice – first by a stick-wielding crone at Mecca for
not wearing socks, then by a pool attendant when I (swathed entirely in
compulsory trick-or-treat black) took my son to the hotel pool for a paddle.
I've heard old ladies complain that they are so harassed at night by the
frustrated male youth of Jeddah that they have to take their scarves off and
reveal their raddled faces just to scare them off. The irony of having to show
your face to protect your modesty was entirely lost on them.
I've also
woken up mid-flight on the plane home from Jeddah to London and discovered that
the passengers who embarked in full hijab have all been replaced by Bond Street
babes.
In Saudi Arabia, a woman can't travel abroad, leave the house or
even be examined by a doctor without the express permission of her husband. She
cannot be seen with any man except a close family member, the only exception
being her chauffeur – and that's a necessity because legally she's not permitted
to drive. She cannot marry a non-Muslim (or even a non-Sunni Muslim). And she
cannot wear anything other than a long black cloak and headscarf in public.
Although women account for 70 per cent of all graduates, they make up just 5 per
cent of the workforce. If they contravene the strict laws, they risk public
floggings or execution.
A few years ago, 15 girls died in a school fire
in Mecca because religious police ("The Commission for The Promotion of Virtue
and Prevention of Vice") prevented them from leaving the blazing school building
as they were not wearing correct Islamic dress and there were no relatives
outside to receive them. Apparently the police beat them as they tried to
escape.
Some would say the rules are as inexplicable (not to mention as
unIslamic) as in Afghanistan under the Taliban, where a friend of mine – a
Pakistani journalist – had his pubic hair measured at a check point (with a
stick with duct tape on the end shoved into his shalwar) to see if it was
cropped in accordance with religious custom.
But the difference is that
our government expressed outrage and bombed Afghanistan for their human rights
abuses as well as for harbouring (mostly Saudi) terrorists. And, for good
measure, we bombed Iraq too, at least in part for their human rights abuses and
lack of democracy.
King Abdullah, on the other hand – our Prime
Minister's "friend" with whom, according to Foreign Office Minister Kim Howell,
"we have many values in common" – gets a ceremonial welcome, a couple of
banquets, breakfast with the Queen at Buckingham Palace and meetings with Gordon
Brown, David Cameron and Prince Charles.
The Prime Minister failed to
bring up the subject of human rights or democracy. Or the fact that Saudi Arabia
exports and sponsors an extreme and distorted form of Islam to the rest of the
World.
The madrassahs in Pakistan, which gave rise to the radicalism of
the Taliban, have been funded by Saudi money since the Afghan jihad.
And
a hoard of malignant literature can be found inside as many as a quarter of
Britain's mosques, published and distributed by agencies linked to the
government of King Abdullah. These "education pamphlets" call for, amongst other
measures, the beheading of Muslims who abandon Islam, attacks on homosexuals,
religious segregation of society, for women to stay indoors and interfaith
marriages to be banned.
Nor did our PM mention the persecution of Shias,
homosexuals, non-Muslims, the public floggings, the torture, the detentions
without trial or the maltreatment of migrant workers. Nor the total lack of
freedom of expression and information nor the ban on trade unions, political
opposition and non-Muslim religions.
Does our government really care
about human rights and democracy?
The message is, it's business as
usual, everything forgiven, as long as you're a country which is pro-West,
strategically important, oil rich and able to buy billions of pounds worth of
our arms.
There's nothing new about it. It's not even that surprising.
In fact, our politicians can't even be bothered to offer an excuse.

Britons Protest Visiting Saudi King
Britain's Queen Welcomes Saudi King;
Protesters Condemn Rights Abuses In Kingdom
LONDON, Oct. 30, 2007
----------------------------------------------------
(AP) Queen
Elizabeth II welcomed Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah Tuesday with an honor guard
and rode with him to Buckingham Palace in her gilded carriage, passing
protesters who condemned the oil-rich kingdom for alleged human rights abuses.
Before arriving Monday for the first state visit by a Saudi king in two
decades, Abdullah accused Britain of failing to act on intelligence that might
have prevented the 2005 London transit bombings. Analysts said the comments
appeared to be an attempt to distance himself from the extremists and at the
same time pre-empt attacks on Saudi Arabia's record of fighting terrorism.
"I don't think the U.K. should be hosting human rights abusers," said
Anna Jones, 26, who donned a mask of Queen Elizabeth as she joined a row of
dozens of other protesters along the procession route.
Other protesters
yelled and waved banners condemning the British government's "hypocrisy" and
saying: "You can't do this in Riyadh."
Vince Cable, acting leader of the
opposition Liberal Democrats boycotted the visit, claiming the kingdom has a
poor human rights record, especially regarding torture, public executions and
discrimination against women.
Before the ride to the palace, Abdullah
reviewed an honor guard at a parade ground in central London, a lavish welcome
criticized by the demonstrators.
Later at a halal banquet hosted in
Abdullah's honor, the queen spoke of "shared values" and said links between the
two countries' armed forces were "stronger than ever."
Abdullah,
speaking through a translator, praised Britain's "sense of tolerance" and
appealed for its help in securing peace for the Palestinian people.
Saudi Arabia, the world's leading oil producer, is an absolute monarchy
where citizens are expected to follow a strict interpretation of Islam.
Convictions of murder, drug trafficking, rape and armed robbery carry mandatory
death sentences by beheading.
As the pageantry unfolded in London for
Abdullah's visit, two men convicted of murder were beheaded in the Saudi capital
of Riyadh, bringing to 119 the number of people beheaded by the kingdom this
year.
British officials acknowledge the abuses, but say Saudi Arabia is
their closest ally in the Middle East and Abdullah, 82, is helping it to slowly
reform.
Abdullah was scheduled to meet Prime Minister Gordon Brown
Wednesday to discuss Iraq, the Iran nuclear standoff, the Middle East peace
process and counterterrorism.
A cartoon in The Daily Telegraph on
Tuesday depicted Brown lauding "universal human rights" but bowing to the Saudi
king.
Others accuse Saudi Arabia of spreading ideas that fuel extremism
and terrorism.
The Saudi royal family's legitimacy depends on a
puritanical version of Islam known as Wahhabism. The Saudi royals face the
delicate task of maintaining the approval of some of the same clerics who
inspire al-Qaida-oriented terrorists.
The London-based The Policy
Exchange think tank said in a report published Tuesday that organizations linked
to the Saudi government have been trying to export that puritanical version of
Islam by distributing extremist literature to mosques and Islamic centers in
Britain.
The material called for violence against enemies of Islam,
including women and gays who demand equal rights, according to the think tank.
Abdullah accusation that Britain failed to act on intelligence that
might have prevented the 2005 London transit bombings touched off debate about
the kingdom's response to terror.
British officials denied the king's
claims, saying they received information from Saudi officials but it was not
about the London transit bombings, which killed 52 commuters and four suicide
bombers.
Abdullah's visit has also been clouded by a U.S. investigation
over whether a Saudi prince received kickbacks in an $87 billion arms deal with
a British weapons manufacturer. The British government dropped its own
inestigation after then-Prime Minister Tony Blair said it would put British jobs
in jeopardy and could weaken Saudi cooperation in combating terrorism.
Critics accuse the government of trying to cover up Saudi corruption to
safeguard Britain's financial interests in the country, the biggest market for
British exports in the Middle East.
Blair ordered the investigation be
dropped in December amid news reports that claimed Saudi officials had
threatened to drop plans to buy a new Eurofighter aircraft from British
aerospace firm BAE.
U.S. authorities are still waiting for British
investigators to release their files.

Books advocating oppression of women, gays' execution in UK mosques linked to Saudi Arabian government

Books advocating oppression of women, gays' execution found in British mosques
From our ANI Correspondent
London, Oct 30: Hate-filled books and pamphlets advocating oppression of women and execution of gays have been distributed in British mosques.
Such radical literature was found by researchers at a quarter of the 100 Islamic religious institutions they visited in the country. According to them, much of the literature is linked to agencies of the Saudi Arabian government.
The material found in the mosques urges Muslims to lead separate lives from 'non-believers' and makes repeated calls for gays to be killed. It outlines that women should be subjugated, and warned them not to pluck their eyebrows or wear perfume, the Daily Mail reported.
A report by the Policy Exchange think tank has accused the Saudis of having a 'powerful and malign' influence, adding that the material was found by Muslim research teams working in 2006 and 2007.
The contentious pamphlets were either written by the country's Wahhabite religious establishment, published by official or semi-official institutions or found in Saudi-funded or linked mosques, the report said.
The radical material was also found at the East London Mosque, which has been visited by Prince Charles, and is closely linked with the Muslim Council of Britain.
According to the Policy Exchange, hateful material was also found at the former Finsbury Park Mosque in North London - made infamous by hook-handed cleric Abu Hamza - and institutions in Wycombe, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Blackburn, Bradford, Rochdale and Oxford.
"It is clearly intolerable that hate literature is peddled at some British mosques," said Anthony Browne, Policy Exchange's director.
"I am sure the majority of moderate Muslims will be as horrified as everyone else that pamphlets advocating jihad by force, hatred for insufficiently observant Muslims, Christians and Jews, and segregation have found their way into the UK's mosques," he added.
The report 'The Hijacking of British Islam: How extremist literature is subverting Britain's mosques' was written by Denis MacEoin, an Islamic studies expert at Newcastle University.
"What is more worrying is that these are among the best-funded and most dynamic institutions in Muslim Britain - some of which are held up as mainstream bodies... Many of the institutions have been endowed with official recognition," he added.
Almost half of the literature is written in English, suggesting it is targeted at younger British Muslims who do not speak Arabic or Urdu, said the report, adding that many of the publications encourage British Muslims to segregate themselves from non-Muslims.
The material included extracts from the notorious anti-Semitic forgery, The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion.
The literature found in the East London Mosque said the punishment for sodomy is to be 'killed'.
"Or, to be burnt or to be stoned. Or, to be thrown from the highest point (mountain, tower, lofty building etc), then to follow it with stoning," it added.
Other pamphlets call for those who change their religion to be killed.
Another adds: "Whoever takes part in stoning a married adulterer is rewarded for that and it is not fitting for anyone to abstain from it if a ruling of stoning is issued."
However, Dr MacEoin said the literature did not usually go as far as encouraging violence, but it created an environment in which 'those who do encourage and conduct violence can move'.
"Mosques are non-hierarchical institutions, and the degree to which their managements are responsible for the presence of the booklets and pamphlets identified in this report must be considered on a mosque-by-mosque basis," he added.
