The PT has just written a review of 2009 that documents last year’s rise of the European far-right. The article, rightly, points out the worrying rise of anti-Muslim sentiment across Europe: summing it up as not being a good year for Muslims.

Ali Hassan al-Majid, notorious for commanding the use of weapons of mass destruction against civilians in Kurdistan in 1988, has been sentenced to death again. This time the death sentence was due to his role in the crushing of the Shi’ite after the Persian Gulf War in 1991.

Majid, Saddam Hussein’s cousin, attempted his own theatrics, but the judge would have no part of it:

Judge Khalifa said Mr. Majid was guilty of crimes against humanity. Mr. Majid remained calm, but Mr. Ani shouted: “I welcome death if it is for Iraq, for pan-Arabism and for the Baath. Down with the American and Persian occupation!”

The judge responded, “Shut up.”

The Iraqi Special Tribunal: A Lack of Objectivity Concerns the Victim Nation…

…neither the Arab judges nor the Kurdish judges can be impartial about past cases of ethnic conflict. An Arab judge cannot be impartial toward the Kurds, as the case is related to the Kurdish genocide committed by Arabs.

[...]

Mass killing of the Kurds was motivated by eliminating a non-Arab national group, while the killing of Arab groups was not occurred due to dissimilar nationality. This tribunal makes use of rules, such as rule number 7, article 1, from 1958, which deals with the crime of occupation of another Arab country. The Arabs involve every rule that is in their own interest. This is not the same as the Kurdish interest. For instance, the Kurds have suffered under Arabization since the establishment of the Iraqi state, and there are many episodes and documents proving this.

However, there is not a single article in the statute of the tribunal regarding this crime.

Arabization should have a clear definition.

Arabization can be seen as a type of ethnic cleansing with particular characteristics. Arabism is central for Arabization, for instance a cleansed territory of the targeted group settles only by Arabs; the victims in some areas are forcibly pushed to accept Arab national identity only, and so on. Article 12 from the statute concerns crimes against humanity, which includes crimes such as extermination, but this in itself cannot encompass the crime of Arabization. The text is vague, does not give a precise definition of ethnic cleansing, and does not sufficiently deal with the ethnic cleansing committed against the Kurds.

Although most of Hussein’s large-scale atrocities took place during the 1980s and early 1990s, his tenure was also characterized by day-to-day atrocities that attracted less notice. Wartime rhetoric regarding Hussein’s “rape rooms,” death by torture, decisions to slaughter the children of political enemies, and the casual machine-gunning of peaceful protesters accurately reflected the day-to-day policies of Saddam Hussein’s regime. Hussein was no misunderstood despotic “madman.” He was a monster, a butcher, a brutal tyrant, a genocidal racist–he was all of this, and more.

Jihad and Genocide

Jihad and Genocide

NER ^ January 2010

Richard Rubenstein: ‘Jihad and Genocide’ a review by Bat Ye’or (January 2010)

In Jihad and Genocide, Richard Rubenstein discusses and clarifies the most important issues of this century. Having written a number of books on the political and cultural processes that led to the genocide of the Jews in World War II, he now detects in jihad the same dynamic targeting Israel.

Most Westerners ignore the meaning of dhimmitude and Islam’s dichotomous division of the world into dar al-Islam (the land of Islam) and dar al-Harb (the land of war). Yet those concepts are fundamental pillars of jihad and encompass the entire Islamic worldview. They affect both everyday life and the future of the West, as is evident every time an airline passenger submits to an intrusive search before boarding a flight. In our nuclear age, these concepts will determine the preservation of our freedom and ultimately of humanity’s survival. In reality, today’s jihadist genocidal rage targets more than Israel. It targets the entire civilized world.

Using primary sources, religious injunctions, and related modern literature, Rubenstein exposes the universality of the jihad threat. Muslims are under the religious obligation to expand the abode of Islam by war, by peaceful means such as immigration, and da’wa (proselytism). Islamists believe global peace can only be achieved through the worlwide domination of Islam. With scholarly objectivity and balanced arguments, the author analyses the structure and implementation of jihad deployed in time and space. He underlines the two opposing interpretations of jihad, the Muslims and the non-Muslim. The Muslim sees jihad and its consequence – Islamization – as a benefit for humanity. They judge resistance of non-Muslims to Muslim forces to be a criminal war against Islam that prevents universal obedience to Allah’s injunctions. That principle dominates contemporary Islamist international policy and is used to justify its hatred against Israel, regarded as guilty of defending itself, as well as its accusation that America is itself guilty of 9/11 for its “sinful” opposition to Islamist imperialism. Similarly, western opposition to Islamization and the alleged sin of “Islamophobia” are condemned as crimes.

Rubenstein examines the genocidal potentialities of jihad in the writings of Sayyid Qutb, one of the most influential radical Islamist thinkers. He stresses Qutb’s view that jihad is not a territorial war that can be solved by diplomatic compromise. Islamists regard Jihad as a war for Allah that aims at bringing the whole of humanity under Allah’s law. In this view, the non-Muslim world is characterized by jahiliyya, defined by Qutb as the “state of ignorance of the guidance of Allah.” According to Qutb, jahiliyya is the condition of a sub-humanity condemned to disappear. Qutb belonged to the Muslim Brotherhood movement, one of today’s most powerful organizations that propagates his teachings worldwide. These views are shared by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) that unites 57 Muslim countries and whose ultimate aim is the re-Islamization of the universal Muslim community and the restoration of the Caliphate as a global Islamic empire. This trend explains the return of some shari’a laws in Indonesia (e.g. stoning adulterers in Aceh), and the pro-Islamist evolution of Turkey. Although Qutb’s heirs may diverge on the tactical steps necessary to achieve the global Caliphate, their jihadist activities spread terror and massacres worldwide, including violence against Muslims judged insufficiently religious.

World war II…

After the war, the massive social, political, economic and intellectual links between unreconstructed Nazis and Fascists and the Arab/Muslim world remained unbroken. Many Nazis now operated in high places in post-World War II Arab countries. Nazi looted treasures were hidden in Western banks. Maintained as an underground, unnoticed trend, this vast network emerged in the 1970’s as a full Euro-Arab alliance against America and Israel. Although downplayed by the governments of the European Community (EC), a policy of Islamization of Europe was nevertheless conducted in tandem with an incitement to antisemitism… In the last chapter, the author examines the psycho-social roots of the virulent Islamic hatred against both the West (Christianity) and Israel. According to Rubenstein, this violence emerges from the rage, humiliation and impotence of societies that cannot attain the leading place in the world they believe Allah has bestowed upon them. Islamic theology rejects kaffirs – infidels who are considered a sub-humanity that must either convert to Islam or submit as dhimmis – since Islam is in their eyes the bearer of the perfect religion elected by Allah to govern the world. For over a millennium, Muslim power has imposed on non-Muslims the worst attributes of contempt as a visible proof of its superiority. But the humiliation of the Ottoman defeat at Lepanto (1571), the successive retreats in the 17th and 18th centuries before Russian and Western advances, the loss of the Ottoman colonial empire in Europe, followed by Western colonization and its present underdeveloped condition, could trigger a desperate apocalyptic move to destroy the world in which Islam is not supreme. …

Some latest highlights of ISLAMOFASCISM (Dec-09, Jan-10)

Some latest highlights of ISLAMOFASCISM (Dec-09, Jan-10)

Laina Farhat-Holzman: What happens to poisonous ideologies over time? Santa Cruz Sentinel - Jan 2, 2010... Islamism. During this same period, another ideology was born that inflames the world today: Islamo-Fascism or Islamism, a form of Islam that combines the ideologies of literally-practiced Islam and totalitarian Nazism and Communism, both of which were much admired by this sect's founders. The Muslim Brotherhood, spawned in Egypt, is the godfather of every Islamist organization at work in the world today.

Their narrative is that Islam should once more prevail over all other religions; that Muslims should rule and all others either convert, be enslaved, or be exterminated; and that any deception in furtherance of this narrative is authorized by Allah. The long-range plan is to take over the world. This ideology with its accompanying death cult is most dangerous to ordinary Muslims themselves, who are intimidated and fear for their children being sucked in by these poisonous pied pipers.

What does history tell us about the outcomes of such poisoned narratives? Because they are all so extreme, they eventually succumb to corruption, bad decisions, implosion, or destruction by their neighbors. The Nazi empire collapsed in 1945, after Germany turned Europe into a charnel house. Today's Germany has a different narrative that has made it peaceful, prosperous, and responsible. Narratives can change.

Communism collapsed from within, fortunately without open conflict with the West. The former Russian Empire is working on new narratives -- not fully functional as yet, but a great improvement over the old one.

The Islamist narrative has provoked war with the West and great stress within the Muslim world itself. We hear that the Islamic Republic of Iran not a spin-off of the Muslim Brotherhood, but a cousin is in great disarray, with a population fed up with the narrative and the clerics who rule them. In Pakistan, too many otherwise educated people live in denial that Islamism is the problem. They maintain conspiratorial nonsense that the daily attacks on them are American or Israeli plots. Fortunately, the military know better.

Narratives that preach hatred, promote death cults, and fail to promote an economy backed by rule of law that can make them flourish are doomed to collapse. Narratives that promote the persecution of women, punish freedom of thought, and promote violent intimidation of their populations and their neighbors are heading for the trash heap of history. They are unsustainable.

Rep. Sue Myrick's Top 10 List For Islamofascism

A couple weeks ago, Rep. Sue Myrick revealed a 10-step plan to aide in defending our nation from the influx of islamofascism. That plan is (as described by one commenter, PMK) being quietly buried by our compliant media as well as our politicians...

The plan also seems to have gotten the tightie-whities of one Jibril Hough in a bunch. Hough, a spokesman for the Islamic Center of Charlotte has attempted to equate Myrick's proposal with McCarthyism, or in his terms, Myrickism. "A campaign of fear" was the headlining title for the article in the Charlotte Observer, in which Hough was joined by (D.)Ross Overby who will be challenging Myrick for her 9th district seat.

On an aside, it's a shame that those who continue to utilize the "McCarthy syndrome," don't keep up with the news. Or perhaps since it's been a short while in passing, they just don't remember hearing that McCarthy was proven to be correct in his assumptions. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Or maybe that "fair and balanced" media just simply forgot to report much about it.

The award for "most expected to also be pissed off" over Myrick's plan goes to the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations. Accepting the award for them, (since many of their leadership personages have already, or are currently being prosecuted for terrorist ties,) will most probably be a representative from the Muslim Brotherhood. Hey, it's to be expected since CAIR is merely a front group for them. It might also have something to do with the fact that part of Myrick's proposal calls for CAIR's ties and non-profit status to be investigated.

Anyhow, Myrick HAS responded to Hough, demanding a point by point rebuttal of her plan. Myrick also said, "I'd be glad to have a dialogue with them. The whole point is that we're trying to get people to work together." But that's not likely to happen, as it's hard to refute the truth. Hence personal attacks, via McCarthy parallels and rants about seeking political gain.

Peter Beinart: The War on Terror Isn’t a War

January 4, 2010

If you’re trying to kill large numbers of people who are trying to kill you en masse, most people would correctly identify this situation as a war. President Barack Obama knows this, which is why he bristled at former Vice President Dick Cheney’s recent claims that he doesn’t treat our counterterror efforts like a war against Islamofascism. But writing for the Daily Beast, Peter Beinart argues:

[W]hile America is obviously at war in Afghanistan and Iraq, it isn’t actually at war with jihadist terrorism. Rather than proving Cheney wrong, the White House should have done something more audacious: Prove him right.

Beinart says Obama should openly embrace the argument that the War on Terror isn’t a “war” for three main reasons. First, the term “war” should be reserved for direct armed confrontations, and common American rhetoric about “wars” on poverty, cancer, drugs, and such have diluted this strict meaning. Second, the term gives the executive branch cover to destroy civil liberties in the name of security. Third, it gives the false impression that bullets and bombs are sufficient to defeat Islamofascism.
