Sir Ian Blair: Police and universities working together to tackle 'aggresive conversions'
Extremist Muslims who force vulnerable teenage girls to convert to Islam are being targeted by police, Met chief Sir Ian Blair has revealed.
Police are working with universities to clamp down on "aggressive conversions" during which girls are beaten up and forced to abandon university courses.
The Hindu Forum of Britain claims hundreds of mostly Sikh and Hindu girls have been intimidated by Muslim men who take them out on dates before terrorising them until they convert.
Sir Ian spoke about the problem at a conference organised by the forum.
A Met spokesman said: "Neighbourhood officers work with university authorities in London and we would encourage anyone targeted in this way to seek help and support and where necessary use third party reporting facilities if they do not want to contact police directly."
Ramesh Kallidai, of the Hindu Forum of Britain, said: "Some girls are petrified because they are constantly being phoned up, having their door knocked.
"One girl was beaten up on the street and others have been forced to leave university."
• Met police chiefs are to review a controversial stop-and-search power used in the fight against terrorism. Assistant commissioner Andy Hayman, the overall head of Britain's anti-terrorist operations, said he had concerns about the number of stops carried out in London using Section 44 legislation.

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK — Much of the church is asleep or in “deep, dark denial” about Islam, Anglican Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi of Uganda said in New York City at the Kairos Journal Award dinner Jan. 26.
This was revealed in a story by Gregory Tomlin for Baptist press (www.bpnews.net) in which he wrote, “Orombi, named one of World magazine’s ‘Daniels of the Year’ for 2006, has been at the forefront of the Anglican church’s controversy over the open acceptance and ordination of homosexual ministers, is one of Africa’s leading voices for biblical fidelity.

I have heard people who have grown up in former Communist countries say that we in the West are at least as brainwashed by Multiculturalism and Political Correctness as they ever were with Communism, perhaps more so. Even in the heyday of the East Bloc, there were active dissident groups in these countries. The scary thing is, I sometimes believe they are right.
But how is that possible? Don’t we have free speech? And we have no Gulag?

PANIPAT, India — Islamist militants were accused of trying to halt the nascent Indo-Pakistan peace talks yesterday after two bombs exploded on the New Delhi-to-Lahore train killing at least 66 people, including women and children.
The blasts, which killed mostly Pakistanis returning home after visiting relatives in India, came just 24 hours before Pakistan's foreign minister was due in New Delhi for a fresh round of talks to resolve the status of Kashmir .
The attack, mounted using crude kerosene-based incendiary devices packed into suitcases, set off fires in two of the carriages shortly after midnight local time as the train reached Panipat, a industrial town 50 miles north of New Delhi.
The train link, known as the "Friendship Express," was restarted after a two-year hiatus in 2004 as a peace dividend, reuniting families divided by the Partition of India in 1947.
Indian police said the death toll would have been considerably higher had two other explosive devices that were found on the train not failed to detonate.
Local witnesses described how passengers leapt from the train with their clothes on fire as the screams of those trapped inside filled the night. As most Indian trains have steel rods instead of glass fitted in the windows many were left trapped as temperatures rose high enough to melt metal and fuse doors closed. A laborer who lives, Rajinder Prasad, said he had rushed to the scene with his neighbors. There, they scooped up water from a reservoir and threw it on the flames, which towered above the carriages.
"We couldn't save anyone," he said. "They were screaming inside, but no one could get out." Within minutes, he added, the screams were silenced by the flames.
There were scenes of distress at Panipat's Civil Hospital where relatives came to identify the remains of their loved ones, many of whom police said will be identified only by post-mortem examinations.
Yesterday, both countries insisted that the talks, which began three years ago in an attempt to resolve the 60-year-old dispute over the Himalayan state of Kashmir, would not be thwarted by terrorism. India's Prime Minister Singh issued a statement expressing "anguish and grief" at the loss of life, while the country's home minister, Shiv Raj Patil, said, "Whoever has done it is against peace, against the friendly ties that we are trying to build with other countries."
New Delhi's response was in contrast to July last year when Islamist militants were blamed for causing 186 deaths in a coordinated series of bomb blasts on the commuter rail network in India's commercial capital, Mumbai.

Infidel; Murder In Amsterdam; In The Name of Honour; Shame

WE ARE TOLD we are living through a clash of civilisations, a
clash between militant Islam and the infidels.
This is only the surface tension. There is a clash of
civilisations, but the deeper cause is not religion. It is sex. A
great cultural struggle is being waged about and around the rights
of women.
This month, three books by three women describe the violent
suppression that affected not just their own lives but the lives of
hundreds of millions of women like them.
For years, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the author of Infidel, was
a devout Muslim. She does not spare the gritty details of her life.
As a girl in Somalia, she had her clitoris removed to make her
"pure". Her clitoris and labia were cut off with scissors while she
screamed. The wound was sown up to form a thick band of scar
tissue, a natural chastity belt. She describes her wedding night,
her divorce, then the arranged marriage to a man she despised, and
her escape to Europe, bringing shame and infamy to her family and
clan.
In Holland, she began to ask awkward questions: "This was an
infidel country. Why was it, then, so much better run, better led,
and made for such better lives than the places we came from?
Shouldn't the places where Allah was worshipped and His laws obeyed
have been at peace and wealthy, the unbelievers' countries
ignorant, poor and at war?"
Working as a translator, she finds herself in women's shelters
largely full of Muslim women and police stations largely full of
Muslim men. After a decade, she concluded the host society was not
the problem: "If Muslims lagged so far behind even other immigrant
groups, then wasn't it possible that one of the reasons could be
Islam? Islam influences every aspect of believers' lives. Women are
denied their social and economic rights in the name of Islam, and
ignorant women bring up ignorant children."
After graduating in political science from the elite Leiden
University, she begins to speak out against the domestic tyranny
imported from the Muslim world. As a beautiful black Muslim willing
to criticise Islam and Muslims, she is singular in Holland. She
becomes a media favourite, then a political favourite, then a
member of parliament. The next chapter in her life is well known.
In 2004, after writing the script for a TV film critical of Islam's
treatment of women, the filmmaker, Theo van Gogh, was butchered in
the street by an Islamic fundamentalist. Police swooped in to spare
Hirsi Ali the same fate.
The story of van Gogh's murder is also examined by Ian Buruma in
Murder In Amsterdam. Buruma, an accomplished journalist
and native Dutch speaker, provides a more detached, deeper and
measured version of this story than Infidel. Like Hirsi
Ali, he recognises that not long ago Europe itself was locked in
the grip of religious and male dominance. "Few people in Holland
remember how recently emancipation of women came to the Dutch, or
to other Europeans for that matter."
Like many liberals, Buruma is so concerned with being fair to
the poor and the marginalised that he understates, even patronises,
the desire for social cohesion by the native Dutch population. His
depictions of Dutch nationalists are often patronising. He compares
Hirsi Ali with Margaret Thatcher.
Yet Buruma never adequately confronts or undermines her most
provocative assertion, that the majority of Muslims in Holland have
failed to integrate as have other immigrants because they don't
want to integrate, because they are more racist and insular than
the host society.
Hirsi Ali is not the only furious woman who risked her life and
caused an international sensation in confronting sexual hypocrisy
in Muslim society. In In The Name Of Honour, Mukhtar Mai
tells a simple story that is Shakespearean in its melodrama and
sweeping implications. Mai was living in the village of Meerwala,
in southern Punjab, when she was gang-raped on the orders of a
village council on June 22, 2002. It was "honour justice" imposed
as punishment for a patently trumped-up charge against Mai's
younger brother, who had been accused of sexual impropriety with a
woman from a higher caste, and powerful clan, in the district.
"I will never forget the faces of those animals," Mai says of
her rapists. "They don't even need to use their weapons. Rape kills
her. Rape is the ultimate weapon: it shames the other clan for
ever."
Instead of committing suicide, the normal practice, she goes to
the police and names her rapists. Her memoir is her journey through
the justice system, the attempt by the police to cover up the
crime, the media intervention, the threats to her life, the
subsequent rape trial. "In order to fight, it seems that I must
lose everything: my reputation, my honour, everything that was once
my life. But that's not important. I want justice."
Her voice is channelled through a French writer, Marie-Therese
Cuny, whose name does not appear on the cover but who is
ever-present as she turns Mai's pain into prose and her statements
into drama.
A fourth book, Shame, by Jasvinder Sanghera, is no
literary work but has the authority of personal witness and pain.
It supports the argument put by Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Mukhtar Mai
that tens of millions of Asian and Muslim women suffer an invisible
fate of fear, violence, submission and confinement, even in Europe.
Shame also supports Hirsi Ali's claim that immigrants
bring racism with them: "The worst thing that you can say to an
Asian girl is that she is behaving like a white person".
Sanghera is not Muslim. Her family is Sikh, from India. They
lived in a quintessentially English address, Northumberland Street,
Derby, but five of the six daughters were forced into arranged
marriages that proved variously disastrous.
Only Jasvinder escaped because she ran away at 16: "The
photograph of the man I was supposed to marry was on the
mantelpiece," she writes. "He was ugly as well as short, he looked
much older than me and he had a stupid haircut."
Her sister, Robina, trapped in a violent marriage, commits
suicide by burning herself to death, the fate of countless Asian
wives. "If Robina had only ... found the courage to reach out and
embrace the culture of the country she was born in, she needn't
have died ... I knew there were other women like me and Robina. I
see them every day in Derby, scuttling about like shadows."
Sanghera graduates from university and opens a centre for abused
Asian women, Karma Nirvana. The women come, bringing the now
familiar stories of forced marriage, rape, shame, violence and
abandonment.
In Pakistan, Mukhtar Mai has used her compensation payment and
donations from abroad to build a school for girls in her village, a
drop in the bucket of illiteracy. In Washington, where Ayaan Hirsi
Ali has gone into exile, she is a fellow at the American Enterprise
Institute where she will continue to write and speak about the
conditions of Muslim women. "There are times when silence becomes
an accomplice to injustice," she writes in Infidel. No one can ever
say we were not told.

Doha • A human rights activist from Darfur yesterday blasted the Arab and Muslim world for what he described as its hypocritical stand on the troubled region in Sudan.
He said Muslims from the rest of the world should be ashamed of their indifference towards fellow Muslims being persecuted in Darfur.
Ironically, it is the Jews and Americans who are supporting the 'innocent Muslims being targeted' in the region and providing food and shelter to nearly 250,000 Darfur refugees who have fled to neighboring Chad, said Mohamed Adam Yahya.
Yahya is the founder and executive director of the US-based ‘Damanga Coalition for Freedom and Democracy’, a body committed to preserving human rights and ethnic communities in Darfur.
Speaking to The Peninsula on the sidelines of the US-Islamic World Forum here, he said: "The silence of the Arab and Islamic world on the Darfur issue is not only baffling, it is shameful. Do the Arabs and Muslims have any right to criticise America?"
Situated in the west of Sudan and spread over an area of 173,000 square miles, Darfur is double the size of France and has seven million people, mostly 'black' Muslims, living there.
According to Yahya, Sudan's total population is around 36 million and 26 per cent of the people are of Arab origin. They have been dominating politics, education, military, government jobs as well as business and the economy ever since the country attained freedom in January 1956.
Even though ‘black Muslims’ account for 75 per cent of Darfur's population, they do not enjoy any freedom. They are denied opportunities of education and cannot enter politics. They cannot become religious leaders or take up higher posts in the army or even become teachers.
“All a black Darfur Muslim can hope to become is a soldier in the Sudanese army,” said Yahya. "The Arab Sudanese consider themselves as superior. They have been discriminating against us for long."
Earlier, Yahya's scathing criticism of Muslims for their alleged silence on the plight of fellow Muslims in Darfur at the concluding session of the US-Islamic World Forum at the Ritz-Carlton yesterday was greeted with hearty applause.
The problem in Darfur actually began in 1991 with violent clashes between 'black and Arab Muslims' taking place. Taking advantage of the widening cleavage, the present government in Khartoum began supporting a local Arab militia, called the 'Janjaweed', with arms and funds. The problem was aggravated.
Yahya said that over the past four years alone, some 450,000 people have been killed in the region and another 250,000 have become homeless. They have been forced to take refuge in neighbouring Chad. “There is a genocide going on in the region and the Jews and the Americans are opposing it, while the Arabs and Muslims have chosen to be conveniently mum. It is ironical that Muslims are killing Muslims there,” said Yahya.

Why rape is not found in Islamic countries

Most of the Islamic world follows the Shariah or Sunnah legal manual known as the ‘Umdat al-Salikwhich and are made apart of the laws of almost all Muslim countries.
In most of the more repressed countries; such as Iran, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Indonesia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Syria, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, Bengali and Bahrain, the laws concerning rape are very specific.
In the countries I listed, in order to report rape you must have a witness to the rape. There is no such thing as statutory rape in 99% of the cases brought before the courts. This is because the age of consent for all these countries is 9 years of age following with the wisdom that Aisha was 9 when she had sex with Muhammad. Only men whom prey on younger than 9 years of age and reported to the authorities are actually prosecuted but not necessarily punished.
What made me finally understand this problem was with the organization for human rights which has more than thirty thousand (30,000) reports and with more than 10,000 documented concerning this issue. The worst offending country in the world is Iran where the moral police accounts for more than 80% of rapes which are reported. However, these reports are not followed up by the authorities because the law states that the act of rape must be witnessed or the girl's family must report it if she is under 9 years of age before there is any investigation.
Generally most family members take revenge on the man who did the rape especially in cases of girls under 9 years of age and rarely report the crimes. Many murder cases refer to the rape of a family member as a defense against prosecution. The tragedy is that the girls are then victims of mercy killings for losing their virginity.
Because under the Shariah and Sunnah and laws which are made from them rape is an almost impossible charge to bring. In most cases, the women are charged with moral outrage if they do try to report the rape and generally this leads to the authorities bringing charges against the woman for being immoral or a prostitute. Once these charges are brought the victim of rape may be raped many times over again by local boys and men because the woman has already been charged with moral outrage and if the woman reports the rapes again generally this leads to more charges against the rape victim. In the cases of Aina S. Iran 2004 and Firdaus M. Bengal 2005 and Makarim I. Saudi Arabia 2000 the women were put to death for moral outrage. The oldest girl was 13 and the youngest 10. These girls reported rape and their rapist were never even spoken to by the authorities. Instead, these girls were labled as moral outrage because they were unmarried and had lost their virginity. The authorites hung or beat to death these girls for simply being a victim of rape.
This is why in most countries women rarely report the crime of rape out of fear. You add to this issue the words of an out spoken religious men like Sheikh Taj al-Din al-Hilali unveiled women are uncovered meat for men, Mufti in Copenhagen sparked a political outcry after publicly declaring that women who refuse to wear headscarves are "asking for rape." Arshad Misbahi Manchester's Central Mosque western women are for sexual release of muslim men, al-Rafee if I came across a rape crime, I would discipline the man and order that the woman be jailed for life. Why would you do this, Rafee? He said because if she had not left the meat uncovered, the cat wouldn’t have snatched it.
These views are taught in all muslim schools. These views are then spread across the world.

Another set of facts is that muslim immigrants increase crime in all countries they are in between 20 and 35%. This diffenece in the 15% is due to the differences in laws and punishments of the countries the immigrants are in. In other words, what is a crime in one country may not be in another.
The truth is that Islamic countries have extremely low morals and values concerning women and human rights to religious tolerance.
Most of the crimes in Europe are actually hate crimes motivated by religous jihad to try and change Europe to a Muslim world.
Jihad today asks muslims abroad to have as many children as possible and to get on welfare of the countries they are in. They want to become the majority in the countries to change the countries from Christian to Muslim by any means available. France is a good example where it is near civil war between Muslim and Christians and governmental polices.
So when I listen to muslims who try and say that rape and other high moral crimes are only a western issue. I say they are the greatest Liars of the world.
Facts are facts. Check out what I have written. Google if you want. You most likely will find most of what I have posted. However, call governments to check the facts of crime rates. They are what they are.
Muslims in general do not obey the laws of the land. They only obey those laws which they feel they want to obey.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Muslim cabdriver from Somalia ran over two college students near Vanderbilt University after getting into an argument with them about religion, police said.
Ibrahim Ahmed, 37, a driver for United Cab, picked up two men near the Vanderbilt campus early Sunday morning, Capt. Mike Alexander of the Nashville Police Department said, referring to the incident report.
The two men, reportedly college students from Ohio who were visiting Nashville, were on their way back to the campus.

Muslims in Mombasa want President Kibaki to prevail upon law enforcement agencies to stop alleged indiscriminate arrests and incarceration of Muslims.
They threatened mass action if the State does not stop the arrests and incarcerations in a week's time.
Men, women and children turned out in thousands for a demonstration to protest at the alleged harassment of Muslims.
Waving white handkerchiefs to signify peace, the charged protesters said they would use their numbers to make a political statement later in the year.
"Time for Muslims to be heard by the Kibaki government has come. We shall make sure there will be no businesses in Mombasa after the expiry of the one week starting Sunday, should Kibaki fail to act accordingly," said Sheikh Mohammed Dor, the secretary general of the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya.
They also want the Police Commissioner Maj-Gen Hussein Ali, Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Ms Martha Karua and her Internal Security colleague Mr John Michuki sacked within a week.
The placard-waving protesters demanded the immediate disbandment of the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit and the repatriation of the youth taken to Somalia last week to face trial on suspicion of being involved in terrorism acts.
The demonstration started at Sakina Mosque and climaxed at the historic Makadara grounds with speeches from religious leaders.
And in Kisumu, Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims chairman, Prof Abdul Ghafur El-Busaidy, claimed the State was harassing Muslims.
Speaking while opening a national civic education seminar, he said Muslims were discriminated upon in the issuance of national identity cards, passports and birth certificates.
He spoke when he opened a national civic education Programme with a slogan, Uraia.

Chad may face genocide, UN warns
The violence in Chad could turn into a genocide similar to that in Rwanda in 1994, the UN refugee agency has warned.
The UNHCR says the killing tactics from neighbouring Darfur in Sudan have been transported to eastern Chad in full.
The warning comes as Chad, Sudan and the Central African Republic signed a deal not to support rebels attacking each other's neighbouring territory.
African Union head, Ghana's President John Kufuor, said they seemed ready to agree to an AU/UN border peace force.
"They seem to be ready to accept a beefed-up force from the African Union and the United Nations to take control of the borders among them," Mr Kufuor told reporters at the French-African summit in Cannes where the declaration was signed.
More than 200,000 people have been killed and 2.5m displaced since war broke out in Darfur four years ago.
Concern is now growing for the 200,000 refugees who sought shelter in eastern Chad.
The conflict in Darfur has followed them across the border with attacks by Janjaweed Arab militia on camels and horseback leaving hundreds dead and 110,000 people homeless.
The BBC's Orla Guerin in eastern Chad says at first, the Janjaweed came from Sudan; later, locals joined in - neighbour killing neighbour.
"We are seeing elements that closely resemble what we saw in Rwanda in the genocide in 1994 and I think we have an opportunity here to avoid such a tragedy from occurring again," UNHCR's Matthew Conway said.
Meanwhile, in Sudan, UN special envoy to Darfur Jan Eliasson is trying to arrange face-to-face talks between the Sudanese government and the rebels in Darfur.
He said the main concerns of the rebel groups that had not signed last May's peace deal were compensation power-sharing and security.
"With readiness on the government side to open up for amendments and improvement then I think there is room for negotiation," he told the BBC's Network Africa programme.
"We'll try to bring the horses to the water hole and then it's up to the horses to drink."
In other developments:
- A faction of the Sudan Liberation Army that did not sign last year's peace deal has reportedly agreed to a ceasefire and talks
- A UN human rights mission to Darfur has been denied visas, despite a promise otherwise from President Omar al-Bashir
- UN head Ban Ki-moon said the deteriorating situation in Darfur was unacceptable and he was still awaiting a reply from Khartoum on a UN peacekeeping force for Darfur.
Ghost villages
Eastern Chad and Darfur have a similar ethnic make-up, with nomadic Arab groups and black African farmers both seeking access to land and scarce water points.
Our reporter says the violence in Chad follows the same pattern as in Darfur - mostly Arabs on camels and horseback attacking non-Arab villages.
Without an international protection force, there is no-one to stop the Janjaweed, she says.
In recent days, our reporter followed the trail of the Janjaweed through the ghost villages of eastern Chad, finding torched huts and smashed pots.
She met some of their victims, including a young man stabbed in both eyes and a frail old woman, badly beaten when she dared to look for food.
The UN Security Council is preparing to discuss proposals to send a peacekeeping force to Chad but a decision is not expected immediately.

SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina-The Bosnian teen who killed five shoppers at a Salt Lake City mall fled the war in his homeland at age 10, neighbors and friends said Wednesday.
Sulejman Talovic, an 18-year-old immigrant fatally shot by police after Monday's rampage, was only 4 when he and his mother fled their village of Talovici on foot after Serbian forces overran it in 1993, people close to the family told The Associated Press.
Talovic lived as a refugee in Bosnia from 1993 to 1998, when his family moved to the United States, they said.
During that period, he spent some time in Srebrenica. Before being captured vy Serb forces, Srebrenica was used by Bosnian Muslims to massacre all the Serbs in all of the nearby villages only for themselves to be captured in the fall of the town.
The teen gunman left Srebrenica two years before the massacre, but acquaintances suggested it may have left an indelible mark on the quiet little boy they knew.
"That's why I'm convinced the war did this in Utah," said Murat Avdic, a friend of the family. "There cannot be any other reason."
Avdic, 54, said that when the village of Talovici fell, the family split.
"Sulejman and his mother walked to Srebrenica, and from there were later evacuated by a U.N. convoy," he said.
"Suljo, the father, headed over the mountains and forests with his comrades as well. Many left the village, but only a few made it."
Avdic described the family as "very normal, very decent and quiet."
A 1995 peace agreement ended the war but left their native Talovici in the Serb-controlled half of the country to which the family did not dare return.
"We know they ended up in the United States. We never saw them again. It was a wonderful family," said Zijad Cerkic, 33, the family's next-door neighbor in government-controlled Tuzla.
Apart from eight elderly returnees, Talovici village has been a virtual ghost town since 1993. All but two houses are in ruins, including the home of Sulejman's family, said former neighbor Adem Huric, 38.
Many mujahedeen from Muslim states came in Bosnia to fight in 1992-95 war and committed monstruous atrocities againsy Serb civilians.

In the period 12-15 February, 2007, Near East Consulting (NEC) conducted a
phone survey of over 1200 randomly selected Palestinians in the West Bank,
the Gaza Strip, and Jerusalem of which 806 were successfully completed. It
is worth noting that the margin of error is +/- 3.4% with a 95% confidence
level.
.. 51% of Palestinians feel less secure since the January 2006 elections,
as compared to 48% last month, and 44% in December 2006.
.. The majority of Palestinians (85%) of the Palestinians continue to be
either extremely concerned (55%) or somewhat concerned (30%) about the
current situation in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. This constitutes a
decrease of 6% since NEC's January 2007 survey.
.. 19% are concerned because of the economic hardship that their household
is facing (+1% since January), 31% are concerned because of the general
absence of security for their families (+5% since January), while 29% remain
concerned because of the internal power struggle (-13% since January).
.. Despite the recent Mecca agreement, 75% continue to feel insecure with
respect to themselves, their family, and their property (+1% since NEC's
January 2007 survey).
.. 82% of the Palestinians believe that the Executive Force should be
integrated within the other security forces (+3% since January).
.. While in NEC's January 2007 survey, 43% of Palestinians believed that a
civil war was likely, since the Mecca agreement 77% think that this
likelihood has decreased, 8% believe that the likelihood of a civil war
since the Mecca agreement has increased, and 15% feel that it remained the
same.
B. The Mecca agreement and the future developments:
.. The overwhelming majority of Palestinians (94%) support the Mecca
agreement.
.. 79% believe that the Mecca agreement will hold.
.. Equally, 79% believe that the envisaged Unity government in the Mecca
agreement will succeed.
.. 63% believe that the embargo against the PA will be lifted as a result of
the Mecca agreement.
.. 20% believe that Fateh most benefited from the Mecca agreement, 19% feel
that Hamas most benefited from the Mecca agreement, while 38% believe that
both benefited equally. Although originally not an option to answer in the
survey, 23% of the respondents insisted that the Palestinian people most
benefited from the Mecca agreement.
.. Despite the optimism surrounding the potential of the Mecca agreement, an
exact equal percentage of Palestinians as last month (76%) believe that the
crisis between Fateh and Hamas will end. In other words, the Mecca agreement
did not further influence Palestinian perceptions on this issue.
C. Factions and leaders:
.. Between trust in Abu Mazen and trust in Ismael Hanieh, 51% most trust the
former, while 49% most trust the latter. However, when - more generally -
Palestinians are queried about their trust in Palestinian personalities, 22%
most trust Ismael Hannieh, while 19% most trust Abu Mazen. Some of the other
personalities who receive trust from a proportion of the Palestinian people
include: Marwan Barghouti (16%), Khaled Masha'al (9%), Mustafa Barghouti
(8%), and Mohammad Dahlan (6%). Although his name was not included in the
list of Palestinian personalities, 9% of the respondents still insisted that
they most trust the late President Yasser Arafat.
.. Very similar to NEC's January 2007 results, 43% believe that the people
in their neighbourhood mainly trust Fateh, 33% believe that they mainly
trust Hamas, while 21% believe that the people in their neighbourhood do not
trust any faction.
.. Personally, 34% of the respondents place their trust in Fateh (a drop of
6% in comparison with NEC's January results), 28% most trust Hamas (compared
to 26% in January), while 33% do not trust any faction (an increase of 6%
since last month). In other words, last month's high level of trust in Fateh
has receded as an increasing percentage of respondents again opt not to
trust any of the existing factions.
D. The Palestinian-Israeli context:
.. 70% support a peace settlement with Israel, compared to 72% in January
2007 and 77% in December 2006.
.. 51% believe that Hamas should change its position towards the elimination
of Israel (a drop of 5% since January 2007, and a 10% drop since December
2006).
.. 63% of Palestinians believe that Hamas should use all its efforts to
reach a peace agreement with Israel.
.. 85% of Palestinians believe that there is a Palestinian peace partner.
This indicates an increase of 8% since December 2006, and is the most
positive answer since NEC began asking this question in its May 2006 survey.
.. Meanwhile, 26% believe that Palestinians have a peace partner in Israel.

pronounced belief that there is a peace partner for Palestinians in Israel

E. Poverty conditions

Gaza - Ma'an - The Al-Aqsa Brigades, the main military wing of Fatah, have claimed responsibility for launching four homemade projectiles at the Israeli town of Sderot and into the western Negev on Friday around noon.
In a statement, the brigades said that the projectile launching was in reaction to Israel's violations of the truce and the "the aggressions against the Palestinians, in addition to the mosque of Al-Aqsa".

Thousands of Muslim schoolchildren are being physically and sexually abused by their religious teachers every year, according to a report into the Islamic education system in this country.
The potential scale of the abuse has led to fears among Muslim leaders that Britain's Mosque-based schools will face the kind of child abuse claims that has recently scandalised the Roman Catholic Church.
Up to 100,000 children are taught at 700 Islamic schools, or madrassas, of which almost a half use unlawful corporal punishment to discipline pupils, says the report into child protection published today by the Muslim Parliament of Great Britain. The authors also warn that each year at least a dozen children are sexually abused by their teachers and Imans with very few cases ever being made public.
Years of unregulated education means that tens of thousands of Muslim pupils now face a significant risk of harm by attending school, says the report.

Last week, one of them--Robert Mustaq John--pled guilty in the U.S. District for the Eastern District of New York, and the previous week, another--Wasil Burki--was indicted in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. I've posted the court documents associated with both, herein, as well as a reposting of their death threats.
It's important to note that justice for me did not come nearly as easily as it comes for American Muslims who get action from the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice, upon the whine about a hangnail. Mr. John sent his death threat to me almost 3.5 years ago. And I am only now finally getting justice, after going through a lot of baloney. I also believe that were it not for my having a loud and influential voice on this site and elsewhere in the media, nothing would have happened at all.
I compare this to the lightning speed that FBI agents and Justice Department lawyers moved in indicting and convicting two New York men who sent largely benign, anti-Muslim e-mails to extremist, hate-mongering Imam Hassan Qazwini, on the weekend of Nicholas Berg's televised beheading. Within a month of their e-mails, FBI agents raided both men's homes, and they were indicted shortly thereafter. Unlike my cases, they were not given plea deals. One of the men, Michael Bratisax, is a quadriplegic veteran in a wheelchair. (As I've written, the USDOJ has a special affirmative action prosecution program for Muslim "victims"--you and I aren't equal to them in "Justice"'s eyes.)
The case should have been assigned to the FBI's civil rights agents in Detroit. It was, instead, sent to Ouellet, a lackluster agent in a satellite office.
Agent Ouellet told me that I remind him of his daughter who was in a University of Michigan sorority and who hated the Jewish sororities (for the record, I've never been in one). He elaborated on "the Jews" at Michigan. If I were Muslim, that conversation never would have taken place. Agent Ouellet went on to do nothing. After 6 months of him not investigating the case, he informed me that he gets death threats every day and I should just deal with it, hanging up on me. I guess he was just too busy writing his book about "right-wing" Michigan militias to actually investigate this death threat I took very seriously.
I complained to Agent Ouellet's supervisor, Bill Edwards. Agent Edwards was not much more help. He first told me that the e-mailer was a woman, that FBI agents in Brooklyn had "her" driver's license and located her. Eventually, "she" was a he, and in fact agents really hadn't seen the driver's license or done any work on the case until that point. Then, Agent Edwards called and told me that Robert Mustaq John "didn't really mean it," promised not to harm me, and could I just drop this and move on.
Agent Edwards also told me the case was being overseen by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sheldon Light. To date, I've never spoken with Light because he never returned a single phone call (he was too busy prosecuting the men who e-mailed Imam Qazwini). He transferred the case to Brooklyn, where it would languish for over three years, and that was the point.
I since learned that U.S. Attorney Stephen Murphy III a/k/a "Abu Porno" personally opposed prosecuting any death threats involving me and recused himself and his entire office from the cases for two reasons: 1) He didn't like what I wrote about him and his strange "liaisons" with the most extremist members of Detroit's Islamic community, including a "former" terrorist; and 2) it would get in the way of his office's relations with Muslims to actually prosecute them for hate crimes. He didn't want to relinquish his role as the Fed's chief Pander Bear to Islamists in town. Incredible.
Justice for Debbie's would be murderers? Good. But and there is a huge but. This is a particularly disturbing story not merely because of the disgusting, vile death threats. We have come to expect that from the savages of religion of peace. No, what is frightening, truly, is the reluctance and downright hostility the FBI exhibited in not pursuing these crimes by Islamists.

A Crime called "Conspiracy theories" as conceived & practiced with devotion by most fanatics in the Arab Muslim world, the most anti west, the ones living in an ISLAMIS CAGE (no, I was not referring to G'tmo, they are not there yet...) with pro terrorism and blind bigotry on the "other" the non Muslim infidel. The Jihadi terrorists 'empire' basically is guilty not only of the actual massacre of around 3,000 innocent people, but as good fascists, the next step is to blame the victim, just like they do with the rape cases in radical Islamic ideology, or with the Israeli victims of "palestinian" brutal fascist genocidal jihad.
So far is simple? Yes, maybe (unfortunately) so, not the virus that has infected in radical liberal ranks. While in Europe (good ol' Eurabia's France anybody?), I was first shocked in total unbelievable surprise to hear some kind of "scientific" or "phylosophical" argument "doubting" that the CIA didn't have a hand in Islamists' massacre on 9/11.
Then I grew "adapting" to the harsh reality when I heard Fox' Oreilly telling us that a significant percentage of Americans, right HERE! are infected with the Islamist virus of "conspiracy". It is no secret how the radical left utilizes "info" from most extremists Jihadists "sources", heck Jihad has a website, Haven't you heard? It's called "whatreally...". I am not referring to political arguments, if a radical lefty wants to argue, that's fine, heck this is America, wanna have a bad tasted joke? that's one thing, but to conspire & affirm (even in a questioning manner) to Jihadi "conspiracy theories"?
How low can they go? Do they realize how this hurts DIRECTLY our security by:
1) Giving "credibility" to the notion that it's the US government "does terror on it's population". 2) Hindering all anti terror operations against those that wants to kill us ALL.
Oh, Well, I forgot, that's right, there is 'no war on terror', all the thousands that died/die, wounded all over the globe by Islamofascists are just "made up", heck even the thousands upon thousands Arab Muslims killed by their own brothers in Iraq are "blown up numbers", unless you can use any numbers to dam Bush, of course.

understand. If there is any "racism" charge to be flung, it must be flung at

RUSH: It was in the last hour. Here's the story. It's a UPI story: "An Islamic school in England has been accused of poisoning the minds of its pupils with textbooks that portray Jews as apes and Christians as pigs," and they say that this school in Britain has been accused of "teaching hate" by virtue of portraying Jews as apes and Christians as pigs, and I said, "What's hateful about that? It doesn't strike me as particularly hateful."
CALLER: Well, this is not being done in a kind of Sesame Street way. This kind of dehumanizing is endemic across the Arab world. It's a motif. They always say Jews are pigs and Christians are apes or vice-versa. I forget. Let's put it another way: if this was a secular school that suddenly decided to have a book that, in a nasty way, portrayed black people as monkeys or something as equally hideously racist, the law would come down on them like a ton of bricks.
RUSH: Yes.
CALLER: But because of multiculturalism they're left alone. The other point is you start with kids. You know, from acorns oak trees grow. At the very least they're going to be Islamic supremacists when they get old older.
RUSH: Right.
CALLER: I say "at the very least." You know, I hate to think of the very worst, but if they think of us as being apes and pigs, then maybe they won't mind killing us so easily.

RUSH: For almost 19 years here, I've been dealing with stories like this --

RUSH: -- and being righteously indignant and apocalyptic. "We're going to hell in a handbasket. How can this stuff be happening?" and so forth. I think, rather, that the best way to make the point of just how absurd it is, is to agree with it.
CALLER: Hmm. I should have thought this. Us Brits are always going on about irony and so this is actually...
RUSH: This is about getting you up to speed here on this. This is ridiculous. The thing is, in this country, Christians are the one group -- the one religious group -- you can totally make fun of and bash and destroy.
CALLER: Mmm-hmm.
RUSH: Jewish people? There's a new wave of anti-Semitism all over Europe, and the United Nations I consider to be the repository for anti-Semitism today.
CALLER: Yes.
RUSH: I'll give you an example of how I do this. Are you familiar, Paul, with -- how shall I say this? -- the controversy in which I became entwined over comments made about the media; the way they reported on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb?
CALLER: Yes, I am.
RUSH: All right. Well, we just finished our Super Bowl here and the Chicago Bears quarterback, Rex Grossman, for the last three weeks has just been slimed by the sports media in this country. They just said that he was the worst quarterback to ever play in the Super Bowl. They have been treating this guy with no mercy whatsoever. They have been predicting doom and gloom; they've been hoping that he would have a rotten Super Bowl. They're happily reporting that he did, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So yesterday, I said that I think the only reason that the media is down on Rex Grossman is because they have this "social desire" for the NFL to become modernized and so forth, get with it for the twenty-first century, and they just love trashing this guy because he's a white quarterback and they don't want him to do well.
CALLER: Oh, yeah.
RUSH: Now, I did that -- I think it's safe to admit it now -- because I was trying to tweak the same media who went bonkers when I said the same thing about them and the way they treat Donovan McNabb. Twenty-four hours have gone by and they haven't picked up on it, so either they knew I was joking and got the point or... Obviously they haven't picked it up so they knew that I was tweaking them. It's the same thing here: of course I don't think it's okay to call Jews apes and Christians pigs, but to simply ask, "What's so hateful about that?" is my way of calling even more attention to how absurd it is.
CALLER: Sure.
RUSH: Just a new technique here to try to get people aroused and get them attentive to something that I do consider to be something that's pretty bad.
CALLER: I totally understand.

But a probing new book on the integration of Muslims in France by Jonathan Laurence, an American political scientist, and Justin Vaisse, a French historian, claims that there is “scant support” for assumptions such as these. The authors show that France has comparatively high fertility rates, which means it counts little on immigration for population replacement, and that just as fertility is rising among non-Muslims, it is dropping among Muslims.

This is standard procedure for even moderate Muslims. That is why to locate a moderate Muslim in today’s world is quite difficult. Obviously by this time if there was an overload of moderate Muslims on the planet, the civil non-Muslims should have stumbled over at least a mob. But not so.

As a Muslim, you just grow up hating Jews. As soon as you start understanding things, you are brainwashed with how the Jews of Medina had insulted and fought with our beloved prophet. This starts at an early age when Muslim kids haven't grown old enough to know how to question. So, they never get to know the details. They just grow up with that hatred of the Jews ingrained in their heart and mind.
Although I personally grew up a believing Muslim with engaging myself nominally with the rituals and scriptures (which was the case with more than eighty percent of the young people during that time), I also grew up with that hatred against the Jews without ever meeting one, nor knowing the details of the circumstances that had lead to the conflict between the Jews and our Prophet. For the first time, however, I raised the question of why Muslims have to hate the Jews when I was a third-year undergraduate student, while discussing about some event that took place in Israel/Palestine with a few friends (more religious and knowledgeable in Islam). The answer I got was that the Jews fought and insulted the prophet and Allah says in the Koran that Jews are a cursed people who will never find a abode to live in peace (my recent investigation into Islam finds it absolutely true). That was a good enough a reason - when Allah (the Creator) has said so, it does not require any further questioning and explanation. I didn't question it for another 15 years until the following experience that changed my life significantly.
Before I paid a visit to Bangladesh in early 2002, a few months after the parliamentary election, I was already saddened with what had happened to the Hindu minorities in the post election days. The Jamat-e-Islami aligned nationalist coalition, lead by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), which had trounced the Islamo-secularist incumbent Awamy League Govt., went on a rampage against the people aligned with the defeated party. The ever insecure Hindu community which traditionally votes for the secular parties had to bear brunt of this horrendous campaign most. Rapes (including gang-rapes), torture and humiliation (with incidence of striping and parading the Hindu women around the village) became widespread according to media reports. One investigative report by the most popular English newspaper, Daily Star, had cited they had interviewed nearly 1000 Hindu women and girls being raped and gang-raped in a single district. The age of the victims ranged from an 8 year-old minor to a 72 year-old grandmother.
When I arrived home, I had more to learn about. I learned how activists of the defeated party, even of the Muslim background, spent months in terror. Some of them, who did not have tribal muscle-power and got caught, were paraded around the locality with garland of shoes round their neck. A subsequent media outcry and international condemnations forced the government to crackdown on such violence and violations, after the barrage of defiant denials in the initial weeks.
This left a lasting mark on my mind which probably changed me forever. Instituting a government based on the Islamic ideals is the vision of the Jamat-i-Islami party. BNP is the slightly moderate Islamo-nationalist party, whose founding father changed the constitution of Bangladesh from secular (instituted by the founding father of defeated Awamy League in the 1970s) to an Islamist one in the 1980s. These two parties combined represent the Islamic face of Bangladesh. All these flagrant violations of human dignity and rights happened under their stewardship and patronage. Whether real Islam had anything to do with it or not; what struck me most is that so long as there are divisions between people, like Hindu-Muslim barriers, such things will continue to happen. Nothing is worth this, whatsoever the true Islam may represent.
Earlier, I knew how the Hindus had to move out of East Bengal and later Bangladesh in tens of millions to India because of the treatment they got at the hands of the majority Muslims. I myself had the experience of foiling a bid to kidnap a Hindu classmate (girl) to force her into marry a Muslim thug (who had dropped out of my class a few years earlier). I played a crucial role in foiling the bid by alerting the girl and her family and helping them escape to India. I considered my effort in this incident a great gesture of kindness to my classmate, without realizing for a long time how much distress and pain the whole thing might had have caused to the victim, who had to abandon their ancestral homes of centuries forever.
Although my outlook on life took a humanistic turn after this, never did I leave the fear of being burned by Allah in the fire of hell. I still thought there was probably something very worthwhile in Islam. Else why would so many people believe in it? Why were so many people converting to Islam? Why is it the fastest growing religion? And why are so many Westerners, including some famous ones like Cat Steven, also converting to Islam? But what ensued in the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) meeting in Kuala Lumpur in March 2003 changed my life once and for all.
Mahathir Muhammad was my greatest Islamic leader, whom I used to see as a model for the Muslim world's movement towards moderation, prosperity and development. Never did I realize that there is so much Islamic poison in the mind of this leader who is highly acclaimed in both East and the West. I was so disappointed with his OIC speech that I wrote a critique of it which was eventually picked by a professor from Rutgers University for a book (book
This also marked the commencement of my journey of finding out what is there in Islam that can fill the mind of 1.4 billion Muslims with such poisonous and cruel thoughts and utter degree of irrationality as reflected in Mahathir's speech. After studying Islam (Koran & prophet's biographies) to a great extent, what I found out now is that it all comes from the Koran and life of the prophet Muhammad and that the prejudices they perpetuate towards the Jews are totally undeserved.

More letters by liberals are pouring out of River Falls who have no understanding of the war in the Middle East. They forget that the war started on Sept. 11, 2001, not by a country, but by “Islamofascists” who want to kill us.
Their idea of government is tied to the Koran, which places women as second-class citizens, requires rape victims to have two witnesses, does not allow women to drive cars, or have direct supervision over Muslim men and, oh yes, and to wear a burka, a tent-like dress.
You have to admit it does cut down on the clothing budget. And don’t forget, no music or dancing.
Who’s in the way of this world Islamic government the terrorists want? Why the United States of course, and that’s why these terrorists want to kill us.
And one other principle of Islam: If a Muslim leaves the religion or even questions the interpretation of the Koran, it is incumbent on another Muslim (usually a family member or a relative) to kill the person. It’s no wonder moderate Muslims keep their mouths shut.
The war in the Middle East is bigger than Iraq and President Bush knows it.
The trouble with the U. S. right now is that there are 545 members of Congress who think they are commanders-in-chief and 300 million Americans who think they are four-star generals.
When you liberals come up with a laundry list of what Bush is doing wrong, please come up with your solution. When that solution is just pulling out of Iraq please explain the resultant aftermath. Remember the killing fields in Cambodia.

"Police said the victim apparently was killed in retaliation for a bomb attack on a village tea shop owned by Muslims.
"’This is revenge for what happened last night in Nakohn Nua,’ a message left at the mill said in reference to the village where a bomb exploded that injured no one."
Civility is a hard come-upon in some parts of the Muslim world.
Now to what really smatters against Christians?
Abu Omar Al-Baghdadi, Al-Qaeda appointed as "head of the Islamic State of Iraq," provides the following recording dated February 2, 2007. It is titled, "Victory from Allah, Victory is Near."
Note that he finds ". . .no blood sweeter than that of the Christians. . ."
"’Oh Muslim youths, remember the cut up bodies of the children, the voices of their bereaved [parents] and the anguished cries of the elderly. Let the volcano of your wrath burst forth. Burn the ground beneath the feet of the Jews and their helpers, eradicate their army, destroy their equipment, down their planes, ambush them in their homes, in the wadis and on the roads.
"Hide in the darkness of night and turn their morning into hell... We are not afraid of your coalitions...We have drunk blood [in the past], and we find no [blood] sweeter than that of the Christians... Roast their flesh with car bombs, cut off their supply lines with [explosive] charges and tear out their hearts with sniper fire. Know that offense is the best [form of] defense, and be careful not to lay down your weapons before the war is over... We are not fighting out of nationalism, but with the aim of making Allah's word supreme.’"
Consider that the most Iraqis slain have been slain by extremist Iraqis, though Al-Baghdadi incites his own to slaughter non-Muslims for causing Iraq’s carnage.
Look at the facts: The real 2006 'Iraq Body Count' of Iraqi civilians killed last year by Islamic extremist terrorists numbers 16,791.
Iraqi civilians killed collaterally in incidents involving Americans (and Islamic Terrorists) equals 225.

Move on to Pakistan where Christians are severely beaten by extremist Muslims? "Voice Of the Martyrs Australia (VOMA) said its workers were attacked in Pakpattan, a district of Punjab province.
"’Three members of the four-member team were roughed up by radical Muslims, then taken to the police station where they were detained and questioned before being released,’ VOMA told BosNewsLife in a statement.
"’The fourth evangelist, the leader of the team, was badly beaten by a mob of more than 100 angry Muslims, who then dragged him through the crowd before taking him to the police station.’ He was allegedly ‘severely beaten’ and VOMA contacts took him to ‘a hospital for medical care.’"
Now to Quebec. There a village is taking no chances. There are no Muslims living there but they have already unanimously voted certain civil laws on the books just in case extremist Muslim barbarism wants to move in. They are determined that decorum shall reign; in other words, their values will remain the same no matter the immigrants moving across their nation.

"Drouin said he has received hundreds of supportive phone calls from residents and more than 5,000 emails from all over. He insisted his village, Herouxville, is not an isolated case.
"’It's a world problem. What we did seems to have pulverized the planet. We took a decision and the planet is surprised. All we're doing is standing up and saying this is who we are.’"
"The Muslim Council of Canada and the Muslim Forum of Canada have threatened to lodge a formal complaint with the provincial human rights commission that the Herouxville measures are in violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights.
"But the happy hour crowd at Pub 842 is enthusiastically in favor of the initiative, and reveling in the town's newfound notoriety. The bar was buzzing yesterday with talk about the publicity it has generated and about who was on what TV network.

The Role of "moderate Muslims" in Islamists' Massacres on the West
If 'moderate' Muslims would really reject terrorism (Clarity for the confused -- targeting the unarmed, something like Hamas/Al-Qaeda/Hezbollah/Islamic-Jihad) as strongly, the radicals would not have carried it out... they need the support of mainstream Muslims.
A typical 'moderate' Muslim on 9/11.. "Oh, it is terrible what Islamists militants have done, but, but..." It is that "but" thing that is part of the COVER that they (MUHAMMAD ATTA & CO.) feel comfortable in it's shell.
Though most Muslims might not supporting it actively, but passively, yes they do. Typical are also those that say, "Oh I condemn but, but I understand...". --- these words are just about enough for radicals to continue their mass-murder.
The first step would be (for instance), for the mainstream Muslim leaders to PROMISE for the youth that strive to be Genocide-Bombers, that they will absolutely NOT be awarded in heaven (sex with 72 "virgins" or other).
Isn't that already the case? Hardly, it is never so clear, ambiguity is their song.
They really think that they defend any Muslim honor by "rationalizing" the bloodshed as a form of any frustration, typical is also why they use the "Palestine" thing. how they try to so hard to portray them as "victims" and to cover the dirty massacres as a "frustrated" youth under (Oh, I am gonna a puke when I use this-their dreadful sick excuse) ... "occupation"...
When in fact they try to wash one crime with another...
Many in GB have woken up (which I knew all along) after the London bombing to find out that these butchers are not the busted-myth of "deprived" poor guys...
Hence, when a Muslim leader wants to "explain" to me "why" there are Homicide Bombers, he is not only not helping Muslim image, he becomes part of the problem, which is the backbone of radicals' crimes, they need so desperately the mainstream Muslims' support or at least their sympathy, like oxygen (not funny) to their death-cult.
I hope that most Westerners realize that Islamic radicals' war on the West was/is inevitable, and of course they will say it is "for this", that "it is for that", leave the entire Middle East alone for a second... they would "accuse" the entire West for 'siding by Russia' VS The Low human beings from Chechnya the "heroic" warriors on School children...
The Islamists keep forgetting that the "excuse" called "Palestine", is a crime by it self, not only on innocent Israelis but on their own kids, it is no more secret the animalistic tactics they use over there to use their own kids as weapons and as shields when they fire behind their little shoulders, Remember! behind every 'stone thrower' there is an ADULT (or more) with a machine gun, [unless you are still naive to buy that garbage of the most unfair photo of our time... kid-vs-tank... as if they use tanks against the unarmed...] , and no! you do not have to be a "Zionist" to side with Israel's ( Are the "Palestinians" really the victims??? ) fight for it's survival.
Next, they will also have to invent some real hard [fresh] excuses why they (radical Islamists) enslave, maim & slaughter millions of Sudanese, bomb youth in Bali, bomb their own brothers in S. Arabia, decapitate tourists in the Philippines etc.
But if they don't change their way -- moderate Muslims towards terror -- not only the world will suffer, but Islam's image too.

The PRC interviewed over 38,000 people during a four-month period in 44 nations. The conclusions of the Pew Global Attitudes survey are as follows:

Islamic world domination, the Caliphate & The Newest Assault on Jerusalem

Radical Palestinian Muslims today assaulted the Western Wall plaza in Jersualem with rocks and bottles, forcing Israeli security forces to to clear out and close down the holiest religious site in the Jewish faith and then storm the Temple Mount compound above from where the attack was launched. Why has this area suddenly become a tinderbox of inter-religious strife?
Ostensibly, the riots in Jerusalem are supposed to be in reaction to Israel's attempts to re-build a damaged access ramp to the western side of the Temple Mount. Before any construction project can be approved, it must be inspected by the Israel Antiquities Authority to make sure that no valuable archaeological artifacts are being destroyed or covered up. In reality, the latest eruption is part of a larger campaign by radical Muslim groups to place all of Jerusalem under Islamic control.
Since Israel re-united Jerusalem nearly 40 years ago in the 1967 Six Day War, its governments have agreed to allow the Muslim shrines on the Temple Mount -- the al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock -- to remain under Islamic religious administration, even though the territory in now under Israeli national sovereignty. During the period that Yasser Arafat ruled the Palestinian Authority, he sought to infiltrate that Islamic adminstration with more radical figures, who clearly have left their mark.
A number of radical movements have infiltrated the compound in recent years as a result. In my new book, The Fight for Jerusalem, I have a photograph of one such movement, Hizb ut-Tahrir, which held a demonstration on the Temple Mount in 2006 with a huge banner calling for the establishment of a new global caliphate. Its members were involved in an attack on the Egyptian foreign minister, Ahmad Maher, when he came to the al-Aqsa mosque for prayers several years ago. They also made threatening moves in the direction of First Lady Laura Bush, before security men pulled her away during her visit to the Temple Mount. Western analysts regard the group as an al-Qaeda precursor, which does not violate the law, but nonetheless prepares individuals ideologically and then passes them off to other organizations for military action.
An Israeli radical sheikh named Raad Salah, who has served a prison term, has been at the heart of much of the trouble on the Temple Mount. He was present during the latest riots last week until an Israeli Courts ordered him to stay away from the area of controversy. Salah calls for the establishment of a new worldwide caliphate based in Jerusalem and he has been behind projects to bring holy water from the Zamzam spring in Mecca to Jerusalem , in order to elevate the city's religious importance to Muslims (something which the Saudis, as protectors of Mecca, should oppose). His men have provided the manpower to destroy Temple Mount antiquities and build new subterranean mosques inside the Temple Mount area. Salah has been connected to leading figures in the Muslim Brotherhood abroad as well as with leaders of the Hamas movement.
All these radical movements are aware of a growing belief in certain Middle Eastern circles that Jerusalem plays a key role in radical Islamic "end of times" literature. The Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has been fueling some of this speculation with his talk about the imminent arrival of the Mahdi, an Islamic messianic figure in both Shiite and Sunni Islam. Radical movements in the Middle East are seeking to play on these sentiments and beliefs in choosing to stage a crisis in Jerusalem at this time.
The Iranians also have an interest in backing a crisis in Jerusalem. Iran hopes to divert attention away its their steady infiltration into Iraq with Revolutionary Guards and advanced weaponry for the insurgency by getting the world to focus on Israel at this time. Currently there are two interpretations about the root causes of instability in the Middle East. Those aware of what is going on in Iraq, as well as in Lebanon, and in the Persian Gulf understand that Iran's drive for regional hegemony is the main factor threatening the Middle East at this time. Alternatively there are voices that play down Iran and still harp on the Arab-Israeli conflict as one of the the main problems (eg, the Iraq Study Group). Iran is seeking to get the world to focus on Israel and the Palestinians, alone.
The attack on the Western Wall today illustrates once again the dangers of ever letting Jerusalem fall into the hands of radical Islamic groups, like Hamas. Since 1998, when the Buddhist statues in the Bamiyan Valley in Afghanistan were first attacked, an "evil wind" has been blowing across the Middle East and South Asia, stripping holy sites of the immunity they have enjoyed in the past. Shiite Mosques in Iraq and Pakistan have been blown up, Joseph's Tomb in the West bank was set on fire by Palestianian mobs, the Church of the Nativity was invaded by a joint Hamas-Fatah unit.
By Friday sundown. Israel stabilized the situation on the Temple Mount. Since 1967, it has been determined to protect Jerusalem, while respecting autonomy of its various churches and Islamic religious bodies. Radical Islamic groups have exploited Israel's policies on the Temple Mount. Nonetheless, it is now clearer than ever that only a free and democratic Israel can ultimately protect the access of all faiths to the Holy City and prevent it from becoming the tinder box that others hope to create.

Serge Tifkovic the noted Serb-American intellectual on Islamic history compares- While both the Old and New Testaments recognize salvery the Gospels do not treat the institution as divinely ordained. Christianity recognized slavery as a fact of life as part of how the world works as indeed it did in New Testment times. The Koran by contrast not only assumes the existence of slavery as a permanent fact of human existence but regulates its practice in considerable detail thereby endowing it with divine sanction by revealimg Gods detailed will for how it should be conducted. Mohammed and his companions owned slaves. The Koran recognizes the basic inequality between master and slave and the right of the former over the latter (Islams Wretched Record on Slavery in Front Page magazine November 20, 2002).
The mention of slavery instinctively reminds us a) ancient Greece or Rome b) the pre-Civil War USA. The same is true about Darfur in Sudan which is in news for last several years as humanitarian crisis zone. The Janjaweed, brown-skinned Arab gunmen have perpetrated massacre and atrocities on non-Arab blacks, descendents of former slaves. Their common religion Islam appears to be of little halp.
The Arab piracy and slave trafficking that afflicted the Mediterrnean Sea between early 16th and early 19th centuries make a thrilling stuff. Sea-Wolves of the Mediterrranean -The Grand Period of Moslem Corsairs by commander E. Hammiltan Curry (John Murray London 1910) recaptured that turbulent era. The piracy emanating from the Barbary (North African) Coast viz.Morocco, Tunis, Algiers and Triplotania had paralyzed Christian maritime commerce. It's difficult to have calm discussions about Islamic terrorists, 9/11, Afghanistan, Iraq or Iran. Too often the chats -- between friends, relatives, co-workers, or strangers on the train -- become heated and illogical. I've heard them and seen them argue. Everyone wants to place blame for the rise in violent Islamofascism.
As for putting the blame somewhere, those on the extreme left and extreme right wings both place the blame on America. Instead of blaming the terrorists, these groups blame Americans. Really.
On the left, they're against the war in Iraq and have now gone so far as to state our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan are mere mercenaries, being paid to fight over there and being given good benefits. They not only want us to pull out of Iraq, this group openly states there's no reason to have to "support the troops" as they have enough money and support already. One scribe even wrote this opinion in a newspaper.
At the "Peace Rally" in Washington, marchers carried signs blaming the terror attacks on America on President Bush. Then again, this group blames Bush for everything, including global warming, infertility, disease, secondhand smoke and any terrorist attack anywhere. Sen. John Kerry, speaking at a conference in Switzerland recently, referred to America as a "pariah." He was sitting next to the former president of Iran, yet never mentioned anything against Iran's current U.N.-defying nuclear buildup.
Then there are the far right-wingers who blame terrorism on America because of the television programs and movies that they consider decadent. These right-wingers state that radical Islamists had to wage war to protect their delicate culture. To this argument I might point out that their delicate culture has recently allowed them -- according to British authorities -- to allegedly plot to behead a British Muslim soldier, videotape the beheading, and post the video on the internet.
Some place the radical Muslim hate for America -- and the forming of terrorist groups -- on America's support for Israel. This view is historically void. The Muslim Brotherhood, the forefather of Hamas and al-Qaida, was founded in 1928.
In discussions there are those who will point out -- no, actually shout out -- that America's alleged atrocities at Guantanamo and the humiliation of prisoners at Abu Ghraib have made radical Muslims hate us. Actually, they've hated us for decades and plotted to attack America within our borders for years. Remember the bombing of the Twin Towers in 1993?
But what good are facts when emotions -- or politics -- are involved? Many Americans simply believe that the global war these Islamofascists are waging is all our fault.
Some believe we deserve the Muslim hatred because we invaded Iraq for the oil that is there. Members of this group say the administration lied when it said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and there was fear he might use them -- as he did when he gassed to death thousands of Kurds. It's true that no weapons of mass destruction were found. It's also true that many nations, and members of both parties in Congress, believed he had the WMDs, and said so as far back as the Clinton administration.
I don't like war. I don't like to see our nation's men and women go into battle. But I will never agree with those who say we need not support them. And I will never agree with anyone who blames America for the rise in Islamofascism or radical Muslims' violent and inhumane actions or their hate-filled rhetoric.
In the Quran, Islam's holy book, the Prophet Muhammad tells his followers to offer non-Muslims three things: Conversion, second-class citizenship, or war.
We Americans, our lifestyles, our support of Israel, our protection of Afghanistan, our actions in Iraq, didn't cause Islamofascists to hate us. They hate us because we are not Muslims. They hate us because they do not rule us. They hate us because we live with freedom and equality. They hate us because, to them, we are infidels, renegades from their true religion of Islam.
They're not offering us conversion. They are offering us war. They declared it loud, explosively and deadly in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. That's something to remember in your next discussion with friends, relatives, or co-workers.

Palestinians Use Children as Cannon Fodder
Tulkarm, West Bank - In a rare letter of protest sent in early December to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, a Palestinian women's group demanded that the Palestinian Authority stop using children as cannon fodder.
"Our children are being sent into the streets to face heavily armed Israeli soldiers," said the letter from the Tulkarm Women's Union - a local branch of the Palestinian Women's Union, a trade-union group that promotes the status of women in the Palestinian Authority.
"The Palestinian Authority must put an end to this phenomenon. We urge you to issue instructions to your police force to stop sending innocent children to their death."
The letter adds weight to complaints from parents who are beginning to speak out despite what they say has been months of intimidation by armed gunmen loyal to Arafat.
'We don't want to send our sons to the front line, but they are being taken by the Palestinian Authority," says Aisheh, 43, a mother of six in the West Bank city of Tulkarm. She says she decided to speak out after her 17-year-old son was hit in the head by a rubber bullet. He suffered a concussion.
Like other protesting parents, Aisheh declines to allow her full name to be published for fear of reprisals. A nurse from Gaza who spoke out on Palestinian TV against sending children to the flash points was condemned in the Palestinian media as a traitor. Other individuals who refuse to allow their names to be published say they have been threatened by armed Fatah officials for discouraging their children from participating in the clashes.
Israel has faced international criticism for the deaths of at least 38 youths under the age of 17 in the first two months of conflict in which nearly 300 people have died. Nearly 1,000 children have been injured. The Palestinians consider anyone under the age of 17 a child. But children just entering their teens-and some even younger-have been injured in the region's worst violence in nearly a decade.
Bassam Abu Sharif, a special adviser to Arafat, has accused Israeli troops of "cold-blooded killing." He denies Israeli accusations that the Palestinian Authority has placed children at the front of demonstrations to act as human shields for armed gunmen.
"We don't send children-nobody can send children-and we don't hide behind children," Abu Sharif says.
But Aisheh says the militia of Arafat's Fatah movement and the Palestinian security forces provide transportation and encouragement to children eager to answer the call to combat Israel's continued presence on Arab land. "When school finishes, Palestinian Authority security cars go around collecting children from the streets and sending them to the killing fields," she says. "This is very serious because they are children and they are unarmed."
Israeli army chiefs point out that not all the children killed in the recent clashes have been innocent bystanders. They say their snipers have orders to shoot anyone shooting or throwing Molotov cocktails at them, but some of the attackers have been as young as 12.
Palestinian Authority TV broadcasts constant images of children carrying weapons and staging mock attacks on Israelis. Over the summer, children as young as 12 were trained in the use of Kalshnikov rifles and other weapons at special camps by Fatah officials.
"As the number of those killed rises, the Palestinian media extol and exalt not only those killed, but also their willingness to die as martyrs for Allah, emphasizing that dying a martyr's death was the realization of their hopes," says Itamar Marcus, director of the Palestinian Media Watch monitoring group.
Palestinian Authority TV and newspapers also have come under fire, accused of encouraging children to throw stones and Molotov cocktails at armed Israeli troops.
Aisheh's husband, Abdelghani, says intimidation has kept parents from speaking out. "No one here dares to say publicly that he is against sending his own children to the front line," he says. "Some parents who have tried to protest have been condemned as fifth columnists (traitors) and threatened."

United Nations Human Rights High Commissioner Mary Robinson is to begin a week-long visit to the area today, with Foreign Ministry officials saying they will present a strong case to her about the Palestinian's "cynical" use of children as human shields in the recent riots.
Foreign Ministry legal adviser Alan Baker said the use of children in the violence constitutes no less than a "war crime," and cites various international conventions to back up his position. Various international treaties, Baker says, set the age of 15 as minimum age for a child to participate in hostilities, whether directly - through combat - or through other means.
According to Baker, the Palestinians are well aware of the IDF's firing procedures: tear gas and water hoses against rock throwers, rubber bullets against firebomb throwers, and live fire against gunmen.
Prime Minister Ehud Barak explained that the Palestinians are placing the stonethrowers in the front lines, followed by the fire-bomb hurlers and then the snipers. In some cases, he said, some of the Palestinian youths killed during the clashes have actually been shot from behind.
The use of children as combatants was spelled out last week in a letter Israeli Ambassador to the UN Yehuda Lancry wrote to the executive director of UNICEF, asking the children's rights advocate to pressure the Palestinians to keep their children out of areas of potential conflict.
"Chairman Yasser Arafat, who is ruthlessly encouraging the involvement of children in the violence, calls them 'the Generals of the rocks.' He would have the world believe that Israel, with its guns and helicopters, is waging a war against 10-year-olds with small stones," Lancry wrote. "In truth, however, the children... are used as human shields for the gunmen, bomb throwers, and lynch mobs whose faces have been totally obscured and invisible to the media."
The message seems to be getting through, at least at a declarative level.
Yesterday, PA Information Minister Yasser Abed Rabbo said, "There has been an overwhelming agreement among Palestinian factions to carry out a public-awareness campaign to prevent those children under 16 years old from taking part in these demonstrations." According to Abed Rabbo, the children are not knowingly being used as cannon fodder, but rather take part in the protests as a genuine expression of pain and grievance.
The problem, Baker says, is that children at that age are incapable of making the kind of logical decisions regarding whether to place themselves in life-threatening situations, and are in need of parental guidance and authority to protect them.
Regarding Robinson's visit, Mordechai Yedid, deputy director-general of the Foreign Ministry's UN and International Organizations division, said Israel will receive her as the head of the UN's Commission on Human Rights, but not as part of a human rights inquiry commission the body set up last month after adopting a one-sided resolution condemning Israel for "war crimes" and "crimes against humanity" in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Israel, said Yedid, has informed Robinson that it will not cooperate with the body, or in any way assist it in implementing the resolution.
During her two-day visit, Robinson will meet with Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben-Ami, Justice Minister Yossi Beilin, and Supreme Court President Aharon Barak. A meeting with Prime Minister Ehud Barak is still in the works.
She is scheduled to go to the Palestinian Authority on Friday, where she is slated to meet Arafat and will surely be flooded with numerous allegations of Israeli human rights violations.
Robinson is a former president of Ireland and is seen as a possible candidate in the race to succeed Kofi Annan when his term as UN secretary-general expires in two years.
